The idea of the RV Vagabonds website began a few years ago when I would e-mail friends and family and find myself writing the same "letter" over and over. I thought how much easier it would be if I had a website where everyone could check in and see where we were and what we were doing. This idea, of course, came well before blogs and personal website by RVers and never came to fruition because I didn't think what I had to say was worth the relatively high cost of maintaining a website.
But modern technology changes and now everyone (including me) has a blog and many have their own websites (again, like me--I would say "us" but Denny is not computer literate). So not only can we be found at RV Vagabonds for our blog, but also at our RV Vagabonds.net website.
As to who we are; the guy on the left in the picture above is Denny and the gal on the right is Linda. We have been on the road for ten years and still haven't explored all fifty states in all that time. Our method of travel is to drive anywhere from 150 to 250 miles and then sit a week or two while we explore the general area of the campground we've chosen. We like to play golf when we find an affordable course, we geocache and we wander whatever local museums we find. Our main agenda when we left home was to play golf in all 50 states and we have nine left on the list but we're not too worried about that as we'll get to them all eventually. We have the time, after all.
We find that it no longer matters who we were in our previous life and that's a good thing. Early on we discovered that we could pull up a chair at a neighbor's campsite, introduce ourselves, chat for three hours and leave never knowing what our neighbor's former occupation was and never explaining ours. It doesn't matter here on the road. What matters is the best sight to see, the best place to eat or shop or do laundry or fish or bike or...do you get the point? Life on the road is different and that's why we haven't tired of it after eight years and we look forward to many more years of travel together. Our parents and kids have resigned themselves to the fact that we are nomads and that they'll see us twice a year at best, but always at Christmas.
So that's the short version of the Brauns. For the slightly longer version, check out the "About" page on the other website.
